About Me

Welcome booklovers!

My name is Iris, a 20-year-old from the Netherlands. As you might have guessed, I love books. A lot. I have always loved books as far as I can remember. They are portals to different worlds, or make me dive deeper into the reality in which we live now.

I started reading in English when I was about thirteen years old. I was reading the Harry Potter series for the first time in Dutch, and I loved it more than anything I had ever read. But when I was finished reading them, I wanted to go back and re-read them. To make this a little different from what I had been reading, I bought the first three books in English, and I never went back to reading in Dutch.

My avid love for the English language, its culture, and literature all started from watching a film. It was Pride and Prejudice, the 2005 adaptation. I loved this film so much that I started to do a little research on it and found out that the film was based on a book. I immediately bought a copy and started reading. I fell in love with the writing style, the characters and was head over heels in love with Mr Darcy. This is where I knew I loved books more than anything, and a couple of years later I became quickly absorbed into the online community of booktubers, bookbloggers, and other bookish platforms.

Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of people around me who love reading books in English, and I craved to talk about the books I was reading with like-minded people. This is where the idea of starting a bookish blog formed in my head. I had been following quite a few book blogs and highly enjoyed reading all the reviews and creative posts whilst sitting under a blanket with a cup of tea.

This is where Tea With Darcy was born, and I hope you will feel very welcome and cozy in this little space on the internet. I would love to talk to you about all things bookish and meet some fellow bookworms.

Lots of bookish love,
